Current-controlled bi-stable domain configurations in Ni81Fe19 elements: An approach to magnetic memory devices
نویسندگان
چکیده
The discovery of current-switchable bi-stable remanent domain configurations on small ferromagnetic islands is reported. Rectangular NiFe islands with a thickness of 50 to 100 nm and lateral dimensions on the order of several microns were imaged using magnetic force microscopy after application of 10 ns current pulses through the material. The closure configuration can be set into either the 4 or 7 domain configuration by applying positive or negative current polarity at density on the order 10 A/cm. The chirality of the closure patterns is fixed, implying that only two rather than four states are stable in these patterns. The possibility of using these configurations as a means of storing a logic state for memory applications is discussed. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1495883#

متن کاملVoltage Controlled Magnetic Skyrmion Motion for Racetrack Memory
Magnetic skyrmion, vortex-like swirling topologically stable spin configurations, is appealing as information carrier for future nanoelectronics, owing to the stability, small size and extremely low driving current density. One of the most promising applications of skyrmion is to build racetrack memory (RM). Compared to domain wall-based RM (DW-RM), skyrmion-based RM (Sky-RM) possesses quite a ...

We have employed hard x-ray resonant magnetic scattering to study the bulk antiferromagnetic domain state of the archetypal epitaxial Ni81Fe19(111)/CoO(111) exchange biased bilayer (Ni81Fe19 = Permalloy = Py). Tuning the x-ray energy to the Co K-edge, we were able to detect the ( 1 2 1

With the advancement in technology and shrinkage of transistor sizes, especially in technologies below 90 nm, one of the biggest problems of the conventional CMOS circuits is the high static power consumption due to increased leakage current. Spintronic devices, like magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ), thanks to their low power consumption, non-volatility, compatibility with CMOS transistors, and t...
